California Program Changes — September 2026

Take a look at the newly revised categories in California.   

Retrofits and New Construction/Major Renovation 

  • Horticulture Lighting This category is now broken out in wattage segments, and the incentive levels have changed to align with new efficiency requirements. 

Retrofits Only 

  • Exterior Deemed (UL Type B Mogul Base) – Certain categories now have reduced incentives.  
  • Variable Frequency Drives for Unitary Rooftop Units (VFDs for Unitary RTUs) – Heat Pump – This is the new name for the category previously called Enhanced Ventilation Controls. Tiers and incentive levels have changed. 
  • Classroom HVAC Occupancy – Incentive and savings calculations are now based on a square-foot basis.  

Revised Incentives for: 

  • Electric Combination Ovens 
  • Demand Controlled Kitchen Ventilation 
  • Ice Machines 

Revised categories include:

  • Heat Pump Water Heater  
  • Faucet Aerator – The efficiency requirements are updated.  
  • Commercial Showerhead – The efficiency requirements are updated.
